India has one of the lowest organ donor rates in the world. Moreover, a majority of transplants don't take place because doctors aren't aware that a patient has pledge to donate their organs.

A number of registries for organ donation exist in the country. NOTTO is a government registry, and the most popular. Various other private and hospital registries (like MOHAN) also exist.

The Story Behind

the Feature

The Story

Behind the Feature

While this was one of my smallest projects, it was probably the most interesting one to work on.

Most of my work tends to revolve around designing for a product, with business goals in mind.

This feature though, was designed with only users in mind. The company wasn't directly making a profit from including this - it wasn't a main product offering - but it was a feature we thought would help.

A big roadblock in the organ donation process right now is the simple fact that family members of donors aren't always informed of their wish to donate. Due to this, doctors aren't informed on time, and the time interval during which donation occurs expires.

With the main Mitt Arv product, we were already forming a digital link between family members and close friends. So, why couldn't we use this link to help the organ donation process get smoother, and educate people on pledging at the same time?

And so, this feature was born.

Product ideas can be complex. I translate them into designs that are simple to understand, and frictionless to use.
